DEVELOPING A CIRCULAR ECONOMY FROM FISH WASTE, SARGASSUM AND SINGLE USE PLASTIC BOTTLES
Waste that is currently being discarded can be collected and transformed into a useful product to create a new circular economy initiative in St. Kitts and Nevis. The aim of this project is to use waste material sourced locally to produce fish fertilizer in St. Kitts and Nevis. The liquid organic fertilizer will be bottled in recycled single use plastic bottles of varying sizes and sold to farmers at an affordable price. This will prevent the need to purchase new bottles for storing the fertilizer and it will also reduce the number of discarded single use plastics that end up in the ocean. Farmers will be encouraged to recycle their bottles for fertilizer refill.
