The project aims to strengthen agroecological production in family production units, aiming to guarantee food and nutritional security and income generation for 18 farming families in Correntina. Among the main activities, the implementation of an irrigation system, soil analysis, and technical assistance for soil improvement stand out. The initiative seeks to contribute to the well-being of families, to the conservation of the environment and to the promotion of pesticide-free foods.

Capacity - Building Component

During the execution of the project, four workshops are intended to be held: 1. Soil Fertility: 1.1. Soil formation and composition; 1.2. Nutrient balance; 1.3. Approach to macro and micronutrients and their importance, as well as what the absence of these nutrients in the soil implies; 1.7. Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

During the execution of the project, several activities will be carried out, these being individual in which the beneficiary will receive the consultant to provide the necessary guidance, as well as collective activities and others that will be carried out without the direct presence of the beneficiaries (soil analysis, creation/assembly of visual art and packaging printing). In terms of consultancy and capacity building activities, the majority will be provided by people from the community and/or surrounding communities, these being graduates and/or educators from the Escola Família Agrícola Padre André, which has been our partner since the process of discussion and founding of the organization, because we walk together in strengthening the fight in defense of good living. Aiming to strengthen the Community, we seek to enhance production, however, in the productive units of the benefiting families, soil fertility is in imbalance, which is why one of the main activities to be carried out is the analysis of the soil in the areas where the system will be implemented. of irrigation. To carry out the soil analysis, you will undergo theoretical/practical capacity building on soil collection by sampling lasting four hours on the property of one of the beneficiaries; Soon after, each beneficiary will make their collections, which will be sent to the laboratory for complete fertility + texture analysis. Having, therefore, carried out the interpretations of the analyses, each beneficiary will receive a consultancy which will discuss the results obtained with the analysis and the appropriate recommendations. The workshops will be distributed during the execution of the project as foreseen in the activity schedule. They aim to contribute to strengthening the organization, with the administrative and productive processes of the production and marketing unit already started, as well as conserving the environment, enabling benefits to people's health with pesticide-free foods. Carrying out two exchanges, in the municipality of Correntina, with the aim of sharing knowledge, these spaces provide an exchange of experiences and enrich the know-how of farmers. As the irrigation system of productive areas is one of the main difficulties presented by farmers and with the aim of increasingly enhancing the production chain of the various cultivated species, the importance of putting this project to benefit them by setting up the irrigation system was seen. aerial sprinkler irrigation, creating a productive area of 4,200m2 for each beneficiary. The assembly of these systems will take place in the form of joint efforts, with each family provided with the materials to assemble the irrigation system. Each beneficiary contributes wood, water that must already be in the area to be irrigated and manure. Currently, an organization's visual identity is fundamental in its diffusion process. Therefore, ACPABA intends to create its visual art with the support of this project.

Notable Community Participation

Firstly, we had an active participation of young people, elderly people and women in the workshop on participatory organizational diagnosis, later they participated in the elaboration/planning to visualize problems faced by the community, construction of proposals, survey of objectives, choice of themes for capacity building, among other things. Once the proposal is approved, there will be participation in monitoring its execution, participation in capacity building and in the execution of the activities proposed in the Work Plan.

Policy Impact

The main changes achieved with this project will be the enhancement and expansion of small irrigated areas, productive soils and consequently greater productivity, production between harvests, greater visibility of products from the Baixa Grande community, strengthening the organization enabling greater access to public policies, income generation, active participation of young people and women.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

The project Strengthening the organizational and productive process of the Baixa Brande community, enhancing agroecological production was prepared with the active participation of members, partners and the entity's board of directors in the various meetings called for this purpose. In addition to participating in workshops on participatory organizational diagnosis and project development provided by ISPN. Records will be made through photos, videos of the activities carried out, as well as testimonials from beneficiaries/sympathizers. The aim is to create an Instagram page for the proposing entity to publicize the various activities carried out, as well as placing a vignette on the local radio and at the Family Farming fair on its birthday in July 2023, making a banner giving visibility to what the community carries out, produce folders and distribute them in the community, Escola Municipal Nossa Senhora da Glória, Escola Família Agrícola and Feira da Agricultura Familiar. As the community of Baixa Grande already has experience in the production of various family farming products and commercialization, with this project, we believe that this will advance, in this sense we intend to welcome other groups and associations to exchange, see our experience and learn from the visitors.

Gender Focus

The project will provide the insertion and active participation of women in community discussions, will contribute to the empowerment of women in the various agricultural activities in the family space, as well as in the participation in capacity building activities planned and carried out during the applicability of the project.
