TERRITÓRIOS PROTEGIDOS, GESTÃO COMUNITÁRIA, PRODUZINDO ALIMENTOS, INSERINDO JOVENS E MULHERES E GERANDO RENDA. PROTECTED TERRITORIES, COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT, PRODUCING FOOD, INSERTING YOUNG PEOPLE AND WOMEN AND GENERATING INCOME.

The project aims to improve the management and sustainable use of the Fecho de Pasto do Capão Grosso and Tatú areas, guaranteeing the subsistence of families from traditional communities living in these places. With around 650 families benefiting, the project aims to preserve springs, protect medicinal plants and native fruits of the Cerrado, in addition to ensuring the appropriate use of natural resources. The project aims to guarantee the permanence of families in the territory, while promoting the appreciation of the Fecheira identity and the conservation of the Cerrado's biodiversity.

Project Characteristics and Results

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

- Holding a seminar on caring for the territory and valuing the Feira identity. - Carrying out an exchange with communities in Fecho de pasto that have been developing spring enclosures, fire management and other uses of the Cerrado's socio-biodiversity, such as bee keeping. Joint effort to create firebreaks around the general perimeter of the enclosure, be careful with the fence and avoid fire. - Joint effort to build 7.0 km of carcass in the general perimeter of the Capão Grosso enclosure. Capacity - Building Component

Policy Impact

Tatu-ASTAC Community Development Association based in the rural community of Tatu. It was founded on August 4, 1999; with the mission of supporting the struggle of small family farmers through the organization; with the aim of promoting means that contribute to the format and rationalization of agro-productive activities, the defense of economic, social and cultural activities of members and the community in general and the fight for the common good of rural workers.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Gender Focus

The project will contribute to combating gender inequality, where women will be at the forefront helping in decision-making. Insertion of more women in community activities and decision-making, participation in bodies and capacity building processes with priority for women.
