ebwanga Maiaki village have two main projects intended to be done which are good public toilets at
the gathering place avoid open defecation on the beach and in the bush and the second one is having
enough rainwater tanks for safe drinking to everyone in the village and to ensure access to safe
drinking from rainwater tanks remain available in times of crisis. Tebwanga Maiaki is well known in
Abemama that experiencing brackish water since the 1990s where inhabitants used to fetch water
from an isolated place in the bush. Not everyone in the village used to fetch good water in the bush,
but just only those who have transport can only access to good water. Thus, there is strong inequity in

accessing clean drinking water in the village. Moreover, on the initiative of accessing to proper
sanitation, the village is aimed to fulfill it by encouraging inhabitants of Tebwanga Maiaki to make
their own toilets with bowl inside.
