Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
A trail network will be established in the Jilobi forest. The project will include the development of home gardens which will mainly be managed by women and youth, contributing to their livelihoods. Beekeeping in the Jilobi forest- mainly youth and women will add value to the project. Women will likely be the drivers of the ecotourism facilities as the case in Mhlumeni and Shewula projects.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Different levels of engagement were done in the Jilobi communities from traditional authorities, women, youth and community at large. Engagements included the three traditional leaders presenting their proposal of working together towards the protection of the Jilobi forest submitting consent letters.
