Environmental degradation and its remedial measure through income generating activities

The project proposal to be implernented for benefit of community and biodiversi$
conservation where a contribute can get for global environment- Our Projec{
objective to conserve indigenous medicinal plants and afforstration on the waste
land /damaged agricultural land of the household of the community in the proposed
area" So we have to support the medicinal plants, tool and equipments, fencing
and financial support fon labour etc. For these activities through the project the
community persons will be benefitted and their income will be raised.
The following outcomes may be found:
1. lndigenous Plants will be conserved
?. About 100 Household will be benefitted."
3. About 50 hectors land will be afforested
4. AII 10 villages (253 hectares) will contribute to sustainable commercialization of medicinal plants

Project Characteristics and Results

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Awareness programmes are included in the proposed project activities. The programme will be organized among the community persons in the village areas of Gossaigaon. The resource Persons will be invited from the differenl departrnent those have capacity to deliver their speech for awareness oi biodiversity conservation and sustainable development of the community where global environrnental benefit can be found. Through the awareness camp the community will know about the project benefit of the project .and about GEF Grants proggramme in lndia

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

Foundation for sustainable Development Trust is a social organization and il has a Management Cornmittee to organize any project. The organization has also verse experience and knowledge by implementing government various proiect funded by State as well as central Government for the last two decade. From theses experience will be shared in the proposed project. We understand the proposed project's aims to build capacities of local communities to take collective action for conservation and sustainable development, thereby generating global environmental benefits. Project sustainability

Sustainability of the project impact rnust be long term. Both environmentally and socio economically because the project activities are plantation. To grow the indigenous herbs tike Aloevera, Giloi, Lemon Bam, Stevia etc. it will take time and product can be found for long term period and income of the community persons will increased day by day. The activity of plantation on the waste land is also long term period and it will be a extra income of the each family. The herbal garden will be setup by sullying herbs, fencing and tools for maintaining. We have discussed with CSIR-North-East institute of Science and Technology Jorhat" They will introduce with the different company for purchasing of herbal products from the household of the proposed landscape.

Notable Community Participation

The proposed project to be implemented in the Village area of Gossaigaon in Bodo Land Territorial Council" Where 78% lndigenous people have been living. So 100% Bodo Tribes will be included in the project. About 60% Women and 40% Men to be involve in the activities of the project as per need base of local women

plantation
4. About 50 hectors of waste land to be restored by indigenous plantation.
5. All 10 villages (253 hectares) will contribute to sustainable
commercialization of medicinal plants.
6. Expecting impact about 5000 persons to be benefited.
7 " To direct 100 house hold benefit with their income from Medicinal Plants.
