Mitigation of Land Degradation and soil erosion through the development of Antyodaye Vatika Model in Buxwaha Block of Chhattarpur District of Madhya Pradesh
The project aims at achieving some of the targets of Land Degradation Neutrality set up
by Govt. of India in Buxwaha block of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh, through
the application of GIS based Ridge to valley approach of planning in the area of interest
followed by the capacity building in sectors of GIS planning (at the district level) and
adopting sustainable agricultural practices by the adopting the Antyodaye Vatika Model at
the Gram Panchayat Level and further scaling up the process at the block level. These

Community based agricultural systems by the SHGs, and will result in sequestration of
Carbon from the atmosphere. This will direly affect the quality of soil and generate
better livelihood of the people in the area. Also, the Treatment in the upper reaches of
the block will ensure reduction in the erosion of the top layer of soil, hence preventing
the loss of the fertile top soil because of Sheet Erosion and an amalgamation of all these
processes will reduce the impact of land degradation in the area of Interest.
At the ground level, Jan Madhyam Will follow a defined hierarchy to taken up these
activities. These processes will be taken up by forming the village councils followed by
group of these into villages clusters and working simultaneously as a unit. The flow chat
