Developing Sustainable Infrastructure in MHCNP: Improving the protection of biodiversity and the park visitor experience through demonstration of climate-friendly systems and advancing a park buoy management programme.
The purpose of this project is to advance the development of park infrastructure at Moriah Harbour Cay National Park using systems that protect and restore habitats, and that adds value to the park visitor experience while allowing the BNT to decrease operational costs and reduce the carbon footprint of park operations. The two (2) primary goals of the project are to 1) add climate smart energy and water systems to the new MHCNP Welcome Centre in The Ferry Settlement on Little Exuma, and 2) to install regulatory, navigation, and recreational mooring buoys to enable effective management of critical marine habitats and to improve park visitor safety. This project will have a wide-ranging impact in improving local and non-local park visitor () awareness of climate-smart technologies and the need to actively protect biodiversity.
