Forestry Economic Ecology Development (FEED) in Siem Reap province.
The project aims to provide support to 4 Community Forestry (CF) to develop a 15-year Community Forestry Management Plan according to Forestry Administration (FA/MAFF) guidelines which contribute to the sustainable use and management of 1,398 ha of forest areas under the four CF management. In addition to that, the project supports digging 4,000 m of CF boundary canal, conducting regular CF patrolling, planting 1,600 small trees, and implementing forest thinning techniques around 20 ha of CF areas to improve forest growing quality. To improve the livelihood of 1,950 households, the project will provide training on pig and fish raising and provide support to 100 families to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned. To make more CF members apply Agricultural techniques, 4 saving groups will be established to make funds available for women to create other options to increase their incomes. Some percentage of the interest earned from Saving Groups will be used for patrolling and conservation of CF areas. Moreover, to promote eco-system payment services, the project will also support big a community pond (30m x 70m x 2.50m) and construct 4 small water spillways to make available water during the dry season. Documentation of lessons learned, and good practices is also part of this project.
