Managing Community Forestry For Building Climate Resilience.
Managing Community Forestry For Building Climate Resilience.
The project aims to build the capacity of Phnom Dangrek Samrek Preysras Community Forestry (PDSPCF) to sustainably manage and use 1,604 ha of Community Forestry areas by training CF committee members on laws related to natural resources, CF regulations, leadership skills, and dissemination on climate change. To support the CF committee in managing 1,604 ha of CF areas, the project will support CF demarcation by digging 1,750 meters of CF boundary canal, conducting regular CF patrolling, and planting 500 small luxury trees each year. To provide more means for CF committee members to earn more income for forest conservation, the project will provide support to build basic infrastructure for ecotourism development such as building 8 leisure huts, constructing cement stairs 90 m high to Ta krabei Mountain, digging community pond (25m x 100m x 4m), a toilet and a meeting hall. Moreover, the project also provides training courses related to eco-tourism services to ensure that the Ecotourism committee will be able to manage and provide better services to local and international tourists. The revenue from eco-tourism services will be used to support CF patrolling and forest conservation-related activities. Documentation of lessons learned, and good practices is also part of this project.
