Natural Resource Conservation and applying resilient cropping technics to increase the community?s adaptive capacity to climate change in Kampong Chhnang province.
This project aims at building the adaptive capacity of 625 households by improving livelihoods and increasing knowledge on climate change through the conservation of 506 ha of Prey Thom Anlong Thmar CPA and providing basic infrastructure for the development of ecotourism to create more jobs for CPA members including demonstration farm of Ago-forestry which co-funded by MoE project. In addition to that the project will provide technical support including training and study tours on organic vegetable growing technic that are resilient to climate change to 70 families to improve food production and diversified income. Moreover, the project also conducts 2 VRA workshops to raise awareness of climate change and identify appropriate project interventions and rate the level of vulnerability to climate change impacts. To make available funds to Community members to apply the reliance cropping technic, two Saving Groups will be established and build the capacity to run the groups. The several training courses on leadership, CBO institutional capacity, and ecotourism-related services, and leverage social media like Facebook to promote the market for local products. In addition, the Prey Thom Anlong Thmar CPA committee members with support from technical departments will conserve 506 hectares of CPA areas for community livelihood through collaborative efforts. The community members will participate in forestry patrolling, and contribute funds earned from their saving group to support conservation initiatives. Lastly, reforestation efforts will be bolstered through the Environment Day workshop. Documentation of lessons learned, and good practices is also part of this project.
