1.There were community leaders, youths group, teachers ,TAO members and concerned government officials participating in the process. The plan was formulated in a participatory way.
2.As there were 5 target villages amongst 25 villages depending upon the reservoir for livelihood, the campaign of conservation of water species had not been very effective as it should be. However, the second year plan will define the conservation zone and regulations for utilizing the natural resources around the reservoir.
3.Community members began to realize the threat of chemical substance upon their water resources and turn to a more environmentally-friendly way using herbs

Problems and Issues:

Due to irrelevant training provided to community members by the provincial fishery research station, releasing native species into the reservoir had not been carried out. The station was keen to provide only training on artificial breeding of non-native but commercialized species. The following year would see the training in a more appropriate way.

Fish nursery had not been very effective due to the difficulty and delay in adjustment of PH of water in the 3 nursing ponds. Fished were dead after being released into the ponds. The organization was working on the adjustment of water quality and would resume this activity in the following rainy season ( May- September 2001 )

Methods: People forum inviting representatives from CBOs , from government , students and teachers, and TAOs. ,totalling 40 persons:

1.Presentation of the reservoir to the forum: its significance for livelihood, its changing status from past to present
2.Presentation of activities undertaken, result and opening for questions and comments
3.Participants jointly analyze , evaluate and suggest corrective & preventive measure for the future

Impact:

1.Target population exhibited awareness on the effect of chemical fertilizer/pesticide and interest in introducing organic pesticide. Simultaneously, conservation of native plant species which required no chemical substance was initiated.
2.In cooperation with village headmen and the TAOs ,the organization had continuously publicized through leaflets and documents the conservation of the natural resources around the reservoir.
3.The following national and local government agencies had been actively participated in the course of the projects

Future Plan:

1.Establishment of a learning centre at Ban (village ) Charoenchai for near and faraway communities to learn about conservation of water species, native trees, plants of medicinal value; artificial breeding, production of herbal medicine
2.Scaling-up project idea / activities to 5 surrounding tambols ( about 20 villages )
3.Proposing the conservation activities to be the main responsibility of the Rattanawapi Tambol Administrative Organization
