COMMUNITY WATER CISTERN PROJECT FOR THE SIAMANI KAUGUTUMALAE IN NIUTAO ISLAND Of TUVALU
COMMUNITY WATER CISTERN PROJECT FOR THE SIAMANI KAUGUTUMALAE IN NIUTAO ISLAND Of TUVALU
The project proposal is to construct a new water cistern to supplement the existing but insufficient water catchments for the SKA, in conjunction with the renovation and repair of the community hall and old and leaked water cisterns of the association.

The water cistern will serve as a rainwater catchment utilizing the roofing of the renovated community hall of the SKA. It will become an additional source of rainwater supply primarily for the members of the SKA and also the island community of Niutao at large, especially at time of drought when water supply is extremely scarce. The funding sought will be directed at the procurement of materials and their shipment costs to the project site. The SKA and possibly other members of the Niutao community will provide the necessary labor to construct the water cistern as an in-kind contribution. The upkeep and maintenance of the water cistern will be the responsibility of the members of the SKA, and possibly with some assistance from the Niutao Kaupule.
