Women led mangrove based social business promotion and ecosystem restoration in the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh
Sundarbans coastal region communities of Bangladesh are the worst sufferer of natural disaster and lived below poverty line as they live in such a geographic location where they are vulnerable in every aspect and depends on traditional nature based livelihood options. To recover from this critical situation and to ensure socio-economic stability and catalyze improved livelihoods, the project will aid in the production and marketing of sustainable mangrove products through the existing BANOJIBI brand. The aim of the project is to ensure sustainable socially-led livelihood options for the people with energizing them into conservation activities. The main activity will be (i) Mangrove based products development through involvement of 100 households with indigenous method combined with modern product processing; packaging and marketing under social business strategy will create alternate community-led livelihood opportunities for coastal people.
