Enhancing the sustainability and resilience of indigenous people?s food System to climate change and use of Improve fire place
The Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples in Cameroon are estimated at about 2.5 million scattered all over the national territory. They are mostly settled mostly at the peripheries of villages and cities. Their primary activity is cattle rearing and follow seasonal moves in search of greener pasture for their cattle. With the advent of climate change and its negative effects on land and animals, the Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples have been forced to settle down with the immediate effects being lost of cattle due to harsh climatic conditions. While some people especially and the government see the settlement of the Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples as a good thing, access to social amenities such as Energy, School, hospital and portable water remains a major challenge. By introducing the renewable energy to the Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples of Mobe, it will reduce the pressure on the natural resources such as firewood for lighting and reduce the chances of future conflicts that may arises between the Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples and the local communities who claim the traditional ownership of the land. The Pastoral Mbororo indigenous peoples are also
settled in about 50 km from the main village and have to travel long distances to carry pit communication activities such as telephones in which more than 50% of the activities and information are relied on.
