Three community tree nurseries was stablished,one in every community. 1.1 hectareas was reforested with 2 native forest species. 10.52 hectareas was protected with topsoil conservation structures. All workshops planned were completed.
The beneficiaries by themselves negotiated the support of the SGP, they managed the funds by themselves, and were able to develop an inter-community system to exchange experiences and transfer knowledge by the demonstration in practice. In addition, through the training and involvement of the families, the communities have strengthened their self-management capability. As a result, the project was highly accepted and adopted by the communities during its implementation, since during this time -and within the dynamics generated by the project itself- non-programmed activities were achieved to strengthen even more the participating groups.
All these activities were a result of a participative decision making process of the Local Councils and Agropecuary Groups, they by themselves negotiated the funds, they planned the activities and they managed the funds and the necessary activities to be done. Among these non-planned activities are: 10 additional meetings (for the training and technical training of these activities), 2 additional evaluations, the construction of 59 m3 of organic fertilizer pits, the application of 25 m2 of green fertilizers, the construction of 28 improved stoves and the cleaning and maintenance of 63 households. Also, the cattle of 26 families were put in stables and 26 family orchards were cultivated. In this way, the main objective was not only achieved, but surpassed. As for the cleaning and maintenance of 63 houses, these were additional 12 cleaning activities to create demonstrative houses, and for the 28 improved stoves, they were constructed by the men of the 28 families.
