Combination of agriculture with forests using organic farming practices and native species in Aldea Aldea La Estancia, Cantel, Quetzaltenango
OBJECTIVES:
To promote agroforestry practices among a sub-urban population to avoid watershed deterioration.
This project will allow stakeholders from 8 communities at Cantel, Quetzaltenango, to have technical advice and training on agroforestry and organic farming practices, that promote watershed and soil conservation of the Samalá river.
A series of workshops will be held and the practices related to them will be done on stakeholders plots.

Notable Community Participation
Outstanding. In close collaboration with the Municipality of Cantel, Quetzaltenango, the organization established 10 Has of forest plantations with native tree species with participation of 8 communities members, 15 households have improved their orchards through organic management and agroforestry practices, conserving soil on the sources of the Samalá river watershed.
