The white stork village Zywkowo
Protection of local white stork population (42 nests in one village),the highest density in Europe in one village of white stork population. Renovation of very old nests destroying roofs (one old nest can have a weight of 1 ton!) done by the Ecofund, construction of watch-tower by the Voivodship Fund, renovation of a village meeting place for green schools meetings and lecture done by GEF/SGP. GEF/SGP sponsored also summer-camp for photographers,results of this event was used in an exibition, which was later moving from town to town, set of 6 post-cards was produced.Project aimed also in fostering the cooperation with local authority and community in the creation of the backgroud of the economical development of this region on the basis of the existing environmental capacity.

Initially - only one farmer was active (with the highest number of nests on his home/barn roofs), later - more join, but with some jealousy (who is getting more ).Project brought a dramatic change to peoples behaviour and attitude towards white stork from very negative (collapsed roofs, noise etc) to a very positive (prestige, many visitors and some extra money from various petty services, later - even B&B).
