A market study was carried out for fruit pulp. A business plan was developed in conjunction with a government partner. 12 Agroforestry Systems were installed. Interchange visits in the state of Bahia took place, targeting fruit pulp factories. The Carrado Fruit Processing Unit was successfully implemented. Price and supply were determined in visits to local small farmers. Potential customers were contacted. Operational tests were carried out in the factory. The productive systems were thus improved, with waterways being recovered and protected, soil conservation and diversification of the production. Local biodiversity was maintained and in many cases expanded. Income was generated. In summary, the project was extremely successful in achieving the results proposed. All obstacles, such as lack of qualified personnel and funds, were surpassed through training and securing of partnerships. This initiative is, to this day, considered one of SGP Brazil?s best examples of success. The fruit pulp factory is working at nearly full capacity and selling 100% of its production, with contacts for exporting having been established. This has kept the local Cerrado standing and protected the biodiversity which is so heavily threatened in many Cerrado areas.
