Rationale
Deforestation and sand mining has caused severe environmental degradation in the Matara district.
Communities are unaware as to the long term environmental impacts caused by their activities.

Objectives
Use the medium of street theatre to persuade the communities, focusing on youth, to actively take part in environmental projects.

Activities
Train youth in street drama techniques to address local environmental issues, encourage the communities especially the youth to participate in environment conservation activities
Conduct a 5 day workshop for 30 people selected from among the youth on street theatre and street drama techniques.

Produce 3 dramas on environmental conservation discussing the reasons behind its deterioration.

Organize 28 shows of the dramas within the district.

Dramas to be staged in 10 schools in the Matara district.
