Activities undertaken: living pharmacy course; implementation of the living pharmacy; course on medicine manipulation; visits to homes; interchange with other experiences; implementation of the manipulation center; lectures; assessment of the traditional knowledge holders in the region; assembly of dissemination and educational material; training; regional phytotherapy seminar. A living Pharmacy handbook was published. The community had the benefits of receiving free medication and the knowledge to make more, the courses, interchange, and awareness brought. Problems faced include paternalism of the local government, and a lack of political decision-making in the communities. Neighborhood fairs were held, and the local radio disseminated the project?s activities to the local population, which was better able to understand and become committed to the activities proposed. Health was successfully promoted at a low cost to the population, which was considered strength for this project. Marshaling of the traditional knowledge about medicinal plants was also a positive result.
