A meliponicultura como Atividade de Desenvolvimento Sustentado na Caatinga, Jardim do Seridó - Rio Grande do Norte
Native beekeeping in the Cerrado has cultural roots. The basic needs for survival of the jandaíra species have been identified. Application of knowledge acquired and disseminated in diversified media is sought by this project, in the form of courses offered to local families, teachers, and school children. Local communities will assist in these activities. Additional income will be generated for local small farmers who adopt the native beekeeping activities, bringing together the basic needs of the community and the environmental quality. Planting of trees beneficial to the native beekeeping activity will also be encouraged.
