Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
All the activities in the project are community based and family centered activities. For example developing 35 home gardens with organic farming will give opputunities for women in the family to contribute and participate. At all training and monitoring programmes conducted under the project women will be given prioroty becuase In traditional farmer families women play a very important role in decision making and labour contribution. in the formation of a CBO women will be encouraged to play a leading role through opputunity creatin and skills development. The revloving fund will be developed to meet the day today financial needs of the community members. women participants will be encouraged to make contributions and take membership and be responsible in the fund management team of the CBO
Notable Community Participation
Community members will participate in project activities from plannin gto final evaluation under participatory approach. At the beginning community members will participate in P R A session for need identification, preparatio of action plan, and distribution of responsiblilities. Development of 10 catchment blocks and protecting live fences, fire gaps and other physical construction will be done by community groups living in the area on sramadana basis. 35 families will take the responsiblity of developing their own lands according to organic farming system. This will help them to understand the process and contribute to other activities in an effective manner. Chief bikku of the temple willplay a leading role as the traditional leader in the village in facilitating community participation and contribution for all sramadhana activities.
