The general objective of the project is to reduce the adverse impacts of human activities on the general and marine environment by instilling a sense of guardianship in the local public. The project includes an element of capacity building for the Red Crescent Center which is conveniently located in the "old Town" area of Aqaba and already involved in public awareness and community development activities in this poor area. This will enable the Center to conduct public awareness activities that would promote knowledge about the environment in general and the marine environment in particular, promote proper waste disposal practices which would decrease garbage on the beach and coordinate with other initiatives that are involved in marine environment protection in the Gulf.
