The micro hydropower system shall be utilized for lighting and for complementary livelihood activities such as corn milling, coffee hulling, and abaca stripping.

The project involves the Mandaya indigenous people, composed of 75 households. The Mandaya indigenous people have been organized into the Sangab United Mandayan Community Development Association (SUMANCODA). The association has been involved in planning, designing, organizing, implementing, and monitoring the project. Hence, the organization is a co-grantee of the project.

The project promotes public awareness on the global environment, particularly on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. The general impact of the project is on its contribution to improve the quality of life of people by generating better lighting, thus improve quality of education, relieves men and women farmers by providing efficient agricultural processing facilities, and creates jobs by promoting rural industry and reduces pressure from rural to urban migration. Watershed maintenance and environmental protection facilitates people's empowerment toward sustainable environment. Ultimately, with the sustained physical environment in terms of watershed rehabilitation and reforestation activities, it would provide a positive impact on the agricultural production of farmers and socio-economic base of the community. Furthermore, watershed management and protection will ensure a long-term sustainability of the water source and thus the micro-hydropower.

Trainings to be conducted include financial management, organizational development and strengthening, technical skills training, watershed management, and microhydro operation and maintenance.
