Environment conservation & waste management at Bopathella tourist site by Human Development Edification Centre
Rationale:
Damage to environment of Bopath falls and the adjoining forest is caused by human activities. As a result of the area being commercialized as a popular tourist site, the natural environmental value is diminishing.
The project activities mainly focus on conservation and protection of Bopath falls and forest by sustainable use of the natural resource.
Environment conservation and protection of Bopathella tourist site, collection of data, awareness raising, erect informative boards around the site, publish handbook, stickers, conduct waste management and composting programme and a credit scheme for the local community.
Groups involved:
Trained voluntary groups of young men and women of families involved in small-scale trade and businesses.
School children of the area.
