Biogas as an alternative to firewood use and for orientation to organic farming by Giruwapattu Community Development Center
Rationale
This project seeks to minimize consumption of firewood as fuel for energy needs in households, which in effect reduces felling of trees.
The main actvities are:
Generate energy by use waste material.
Conserve the soil by use of organic fertilizer.
Bring about economic benefits by reducing costs of energy and by minimal use of chemical fertilizer.
Installation of 20 biogas units in 20 houses where project is implemented.
Cultivate an extent of quarter acre in the home gardens of each of the beneficiaries using organic fertilizer.
