Training in project formulation on environment themes for CBOs in the North Central province by Organization for Resource Development and Environment
Preparing a training manual for environmentally sound development project formulation, conduct five training courses in the 2 districts of the North Central province and prepare a training manual. Training of community leaders of community based organizations in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts of the North Central Provice on environmentally sound development is the focus of the project. Accordingly 125 community leaders will participate in the project. State initiative will be available through Divisional secretaries in the province via divisional level environmental officers who will select
the best community leaders to undergo trianing in the programmes of the
project. In addition several chief officers of the provincial council will participate direct as members of the panels in five courses of trining. CBO and NGO leaders will also participate in all the programmes. More than 50 NGO' s CBO's will participate in this programme

In the identification sessions of this project, the participating communities throughtheir leaders will be encouraged to look around and see the environmental problems that affect their day to day life most and device ways and means of either eliminating or minimizing them with or without external financial support. They will also be encouraged to formulate suitable projects that also generate substantial additional income to benefit the affected communities
