Environmental Regeneration through Sustainable Farming and Food Security
Environmental Regeneration through Sustainable Farming and Food Security
Following several years of civil strife in Gulu district, communities have been living in refugee camps without adequate provision for fuel supply. Coupled with poor agricultural methods, this has resulted in severe problems of deforestation of Keyo hills ? part of Kilak Hills the main catchment area for R.Nile in Northern Uganda. The goal of the project is to ensure regeneration and conservation of natural resources and the environment of Keyo hills while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Activities include re-afforestation, promotion of fuel efficient techniques and introduction of agricultural economic activities that are environmentally friendly (coffee growing, heifer revolving scheme and banana multiplication).
