The 7th agroforestry community bee in the Porquinhos village was held, with participation of all agroforestry agents in the project, over the course of four days. Two days were spent with transportation of all the participants, and the other two days with the field activities. The village governor invited all the members of the bee to present themselves and their activities to the community. The six previous bees were also explained to the community. Visits were made to experiences in fruit pulp processing and emu raising. These activities boosted the self-esteem of the bee participants, who realized that the integration among different villages could be positive and help solve local problems. Activities in the villages visited was increased, given the new information acquired on the appropriate planting times and types of seedlings. Loose enforcement of the regulations has allowed predatory invasions in the indigenous lands. No particular incidents hindered progress of the proposed activities, however, and the experience was considered successful. Seedlings were distributed at the most appropriate time, communication with support groups was regularized, a seed bank was started, the community offered in-kind co-financing at each step, and their self-esteem was increased. The main difficulty was the distance among the villages ? it may take up to a whole day to move from one village to the next. Scarce supply of native seeds was also a difficulty. Contacts have been made to locate appropriate seeds and contracts are being signed in loco to insure their quality, due to past problems with low-quality seeds.
