Gudyanga Project
The project is located in the District of Chimanimani , Ward 20.It is located in area where food is a problem.This project arose out of recognition of the food and degredatin problems faced in the area.It is aimed to combat these problems through thepriomotion of sustainable resource use,regeneration of tree species ,soi lconservation and livelihood improvement.

* to practise sustainable land managementand biodivesity conservation
*to improve food security and initiate income generating projects that will improve the standard of living of the residents.
*to control gullies and erosion in the area
*to generate funds for local community instituitions
*to enhance the education of local youth in agricultural activities

*gully reclamation and erosion control
*establishing indigenous and fruit trees and intercropping vegetable and nuts
*producing fruits and vegetables for consumption and sale
*producing seedlings ,fibres and craftss for sale
*food security

*local community members have come together to work on thiis project.

Anticipated project results
-impact on participants
*The project is to help the community in restoring degraded land, prevent degredation, improve nutrition, and generate income.Improvement in the nutrition status of the community is also anticipated.Through establishment of gardens, food security for the community will be improved.

Other impacts of the poject will be on the local environment.Gullies will be reclaimed and further erosion prevented.The project is located within the Save valley Catchment and will thus help to reducesiltation and degradation of this internatinal river.Biodiversity will also be improved with the planting of indegenous mutsaa and baobab trees.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
The Gudyanga project is activity centred. This has ensured full participation leading to development of individual and group capacities in different ways. The training delivered has always emphasised the development of capacities of the beneficiaries and the community at large.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The irrigation component together with the added sustainable agriculture aspect are both targetted towards addressing this issue within an integrated framework.
