Activities undertaken: three meetings with the Cerrado Network Coordination; the ?Folha do Cerrado? publication was started and has reached its third issue; a thematic meeting was held in Balsas, state of Maranhão between june 13 and 15; preparations for the Cerrado People?s Meeting and fair were begun. The ?Folha do Cerrado? newspaper has proven to be an important means of disseminating important information in favor of the Cerrado biome, but currently needs different sources of funding for its continuation. 73 organizations from the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, and Goiás were present at the meeting in Balsas. Two SGP Brazil Technical-Administrative Coordination members, as well as four National Steering Committee members attended. A charter was assembled to appeal in congress for the importance of the Cerrado during negotiations for the Forest Code. A suggestion was made by the SGP Brazil TAC to incorporate the organizations participating in the events promoted into the Network, thus expanding and improving representation.
