Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Native Cerrado medicinal plant species are obtained through extractivist activities in alliance with certain traditional knowledge cares. Growing commercial interest on a number of species has triggered a large scale collection frenzy, which threatens these species with extinction. Recovery and rescue of traditional knowledge on these plants, as well as proper management techniques is sought in this project, thus promoting sustainable use of the resources which can guarantee the continuation of the traditional communities? livelihoods for the generations to come.
Notable Community Participation
The communities will be involved in this project, not only as spectators, but also participating in many of the activities proposed.
