Rationale, objectives
The project area is a natural breeding ground for freshwater hydrophytes and animal species.
The area is subject to flooding several times during the year.
The project seeks to protect the forest reserve and the environment by reforestation.

Activities:
Conservation of Bio Diversity in Waturawa Rain Forest, to protect the "Beraliya Uyana" rain forest, which is the hydro catchment for many water-bodies and tributaries of the area
Conduct awareness programmes, discussions and seminars on the importance of conserving the eco system and bio diversity.
Reforestation of the forest reserve with 10,000 plants restoring the environment balance.
Fence and protect the boundaries of the forest reserve.
Promote cultivation of rattan and rattan based industries focusing on livelihood development.
Facilitate research studies in the forest reserve area on fauna and flora.
