Slow adoption: Despite efforts by the project to introduce basic sustainable agricultural practices and technologies, Lake Bunyonyi still suffers problems of siltation due to soil erosin because ofslow adoption of new innovations for sustainable exploitation of natural resources by farmers .

Inefective leadership: The inclusion of non-typical farmers on the executive of the project contributed greatly to the failures of the executive who were most times not available during meetings and paid little or no attention to the typical farmers' concerns.

Gender mainstreaming strategies: Farmers who were trained as husband and wife have made attempts to practise soil and water conservationn technologies. However, many women farmers who were trained without their husbands could not put in place what they learnt because they required hard labour which their husbands were not willing to offer.

Delayed follow-up: Although the trained farmers are knowledgeable about soil and water conservation, they lacked prompt guidance. It is therefore common to find an entire group of farmers planting grass bands on the wrong side of the slope because they copied the first farmer who did it the wrong way.

Effect of suspension of grant disbursements: The long period of inactivity of the project created a feeling of failure of the p;roject but this gap was filled by other NGOs/CBOs who found willing farmers to whom they distributed tree seedlings, but never taught them how and why they should plant such trees in preference to others. This was, however, a blessing in disguise because many agroforestry tree species were planted and farmers later learnt how to tend to tend and use them.

Dealing withentrenched seasonal timelines: Farmers in Kabale including those who live by the lake shores still sit idle during the dry season. The first training of farmers was done during the dry season and the double dug gardens were watered using lake water. Despite the excellent harvest, no farmer has adopted the technique of growing crops in the dry season and many farmers go hungry when the dry spell is prolonged. Whe the rains finally set in, every family panics to clear the weeds, dig the plots and then plant - a time consuming exercise yet weeding and tilling could be done during or towards the end of the dry season and sorghum, maize, millet stems and bean husks could be used for mulching.

Wind mill water pump: The wind mill water pump was constructed but is not functional because of poor design. The windmill is located at the lake shore and the lake itself is in a deep valley where there are no strong winds.
