Lemon Grass Oil Project
The project is managed by Ntungamo Women?s Efforts to Save the Environment (NWESE), a local women CBO in SouthWestern part of Uganda. With the high population of livestock and man, the area has problems of soil & water Conservation, overgrazing, and degradation of catchment areas as well as low-income levels. The project is concerned with environmental and land degradation with activities of environmental Conservation through control of soil erosion by planting lemon grass on terraces and contour bands to hold the soil and keep the hilltops green. Community awareness as well as income generation through the production and marketing of lemon grass essential oil The GEF focal areas are climate change and Biodiversity conservation.
