Rationale, objectives
Protect existing forest by preventing slash and burn agriculture.
Provide stable income generation avenues to farmers to alleviate poverty.
Activities:
Protection of forest patches and awareness raising programmes for women and the general community on nutrition, basic hygiene, housework as well as training them for self employment
Establish 18 permanent demonstration plots for agro forestry.
Establish a central plant nursery.
Convert 100 chena plots in to permanent farming blocks to generate income as an alternative to slash and burn cultivation.
Train 60 volunteers as trainers to raise awareness and knowledge among farmers on disadvantages of slash and burn agriculture
