Environmental Protection and Restoration Program (MINDANAO)
The project is an integrated program that intends to mobilize the sectoral groups at the barangay level specifically the farmers, women, youth, children and the elderly; to make a concerted action on the environment for sustainability. This is a partnership program between the SCC-CLC PTA and the local government unit at the barangay level.
It aims to protect and develop the water and land resources, restore the degarded environment of the upland communities and develop a sustainable community through the coordinated efforts of the sectoral groups. Specifically, it encourages people to become an environmentally conscious, adopt alternative farming systems, protect and develop the natural resources such as springs, rives and forests, have adequate potable water supply, generate indigenous plant species, and be capable of bringing about a sustainable community.
Implementation and management were the responsbilities of the SCC-CLC PTA.
Partner community associations formed through SCC-CLC PTA assistance handled specific activities at the barangay levels. The same groups management and sustained the small water impounding systems (SWIPs) and other activities.
Technical support was solicited from the Provincial Agriocultural Office and Cotabato NGO-PO Consortium.
