Community awareness on the importance of environmental protection by Human and Community Developement Youth Organization
Rationale
Unsustainable agricultural practices, less rainfall, silting of reservoirs due to soil erosion, illegal tree cutting, rapid increase in population, leading to degradation of the environment and destruction of more than 45% of the forest resource.

Objectives:

Minimize destruction to the natural forest, reforestation, combating erosion problems, desertification and land degradation, reducing pollution of International waters.
Conserve biological diversity which balance the density of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in the area.
Minimize destruction caused to wetlands.
Mobilize the communities to conserve their environment.

Activities:
Community awareness about the importance of environmental protection by conducting seminars, exhibitions etc. and finding of alternative succesful strategies to known environmental problems such as deforestation, and helping the poor families of the area
Raise awareness among the community on the importance of protecting the environment by conducting seminars, discussions, meetings, exhibitions etc.
Prevent destruction to the vegetation in the forest area.
Initiate plant nurseries with the maximum participation of women and school children.
Prevent slash and burn (chena) cultivation in the forest area.
Introduce revolving credit schemes to enable the villagers to obtain equipment/machinery for self employment as an alternative to chena cultivation.
