Photovoltaic Electrification of Bahati Scouts Camp, Morogoro

- The main objective is to popularize the use of solar energy by demonstrating the application of photovoltaic systems as an alternative source of energy in rural area.
- To electrify the Scout camp by using a photovoltaic system
- To strengthen the Institutional capacity of the scout camp by providing reliable power which is vital for vocational training activities carried out almost continuously at the scouts camp. Also to equip the scouts with skills in the installation, operation and servicing of photovoltaic systems

(1) The Scouts Camp was fully electrified and reduced use of kerosene.

(2) Scouts acquired technical skills for operation and maintenance of PV solar electrification system.

(3) The scouts camp benefitted by having more productive hours.

(4) Experiences from this project were used as inputs int he formulation of the National Energy Policy.
