Rationale
Information and communication play a vital role in facilitating sustainable development. People need to have access to updated, accurate, reliable and comprehensive information on matters pertaining to their environment, the issues, problems, solutions and alternatives.
Activities, groups involved
Print a thematic booklet series on GEF issues and related newspaper supplements in the Mihikatha newspaper. Distribution will be to school nature groups, NGOs, CBOs and similar organizations.
National awareness and information gathering programme on Buffer zone Development and Management.
A video series on Sustainable Development: the Sri Lankan experience, using broadcast technology and participatory video methods. Each video will be screened on National Television.
Awareness raising at national & local levels by printing booklets, producing videos and holding workshops on bufferzone management.
