My river (Involvement of the local population and youth of the Kostanay area into solution of problems of pollution of the river Tobol)
Tobol river flows on the territory of Kostanay area. It's the only big river in this region, 80% of the population lives here. The river has a transboundary character. Now the level of pollution amplifies because of uncontrolled household and industrial pollution.
The purpose of the project is attraction of the public attention, and youth, in particular, to solution of problems of pollution of the river. For this purpose a complex of actions will be implemented, such as competitions, exhibitions arrangement, carrying out of inspection and drawing up of a card with the most polluted sites, clearing of the river coast out of the household wastes, meetings with local people.

Capacity - Building Component
A composition competition will be held at schools, and the winners composition will be exhibited and published in a newsletter. Schoolchildren will also participate in an evaluation of local pollution sources, the production of a photonewspaper, and the clean-up of the polluted sites on the river, in order to improve their understanding of river pollution causes and effects.
