Awareness raising of community has led to a total stop in setting of fire to the hill slope during the dry season.

The stone hedges and ditches constructed on the hill slope has successfully prevented further soil erosion and the community educated on soil prevention methods. In addition the community in the adjoining village are now interested in soil erosion prevention methods are some even practising methods learned from the Galekanda community in their own hill slope.

4000 trees planted on the slope of Galekanda hill are healthy and has reached a height of 5 feet at present.

10 women in the village were trained in handicrafts, they are now doing them as a small business. They have increased their household income by Rs.2000/= per month due these craft making and selling.
