Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
People who live in the rural areas surrounding the Ilgaz and Kure National Parks have been utilising the natural resources for their livelihoods. It is clear that official measures of the local authorities will not be efficient to protect the large parks unless local people's awareness on biodiversity has been raised.
Capacity - Building Component
The main objective of the project is to raise the capacity and the knowledge of the teachers on their close environmental richess and to transfer their aquired knowledge to their students accordingly.
During the project 75 teachers and 45 local administrators from 28 villages will be trained. Three excursions to the Küre Mountains National Park will be organised accompanied by scientists from Advisory Council of TACN, General Directorate of National Parks and General Directorate of National Education and Local Agenda 21 Kastamonu. A reference book will be published to guide teachers for the nature education. Finally a workshop will be realised in Ilgaz Mountain to share knowledge experienced during the project and to evaluate the project's outputs with stakeholders
