The Indus Dolphin Rescue Unit
The Indus Dolphin Rescue Unit
A collaboration for rescuing stranded river dolphin from Punjab to Sindh. The project will establish a rescue unit in Sukkur in collaboration with Sind Wildlife department which will rescue Blind Dolphins stranded in the canals. When Canals are supplied with water from barrages after their winter closure some dolphins move into those canals with water and are stranded there because they cannot cross the barrages to go back into the river and usually these dolphins die when the water level decreases in these canals.
