Community based conservation effort on Daluang, as a way to preserve traditional practice on information dissemination, hence will conserve traditional culture
Project goal:
To preserve traditional practices related to information dissemination effort done by local community, through implementing sustainable way in farming the plants which is necessary for writing material.
Project objective :
1. To increase community participation (especially housewives) in planting and harvesting Daluang plants in sustainable way
2. To enliven endangered traditional practices in producing writing material
3. To preserve traditional culture, especially in information dissemination related activities
4. To increase productivity of unproductive land (garden) owned by community
5. To increase product processing skill from raw material selection to finished products
6. To implement best practices in producing high quality art paper
7. To increase welfare of the community in the project area by producing high quality art
paper.
7. To disseminate conservation and preserving effort through printing materials, mass media and exhibition
Activities to be carried out under the project :
1. Preparation.
a) Nursery
b) Land preparation
c) Environmental conservation awareness raising
d) Increasing community participation
2. Local training and education in the field.
a) Cultivation technology and techniques;
b) Product processing and management;
c) Simple technology using in producing paper art
d) Improving technique in producing material for art paper
3. Outreach Approach.
a) Information dissemination on the project trough mass media, printed materials and exhibition
b) Application of the same project in other areas nearby
4. Technical Assistance.
a) Planting and farming technique
b) Product processing
c) Marketing strategy improvement
5. Evaluation and Reporting.
Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1.Kelompok Bungawari .
2.Local community in Subang and Garut, West Java Central Java.
Anticipated result of project :
1.2000 daluang plants will be planted by the end of 1999
2.300 plants will be produced in vitro
3.A number of community will produce the art paper
4.Information on preserving effort will be published by local and national mass media
5.A high quality daluang paper will be produced
6.A high quality daluang paper as art paper will be marketable
