Micro Hydro Project by Allapitawatte Electricity Consumers welfare Society
This village has been overlooked by the national grid because of its remote location in the Kegalle district. The community organization has started the construction of the micro hydro on their own but the work stalled due to lack of funding.
Under this project the CBO will raise awareness of the community in biodiversity and climate change issues, promote women's and youth participation in sustainable income generating activities, and construct the micro hydro power station in order to provide lighting to 42 households.
The villagers will participate in most of the construction activities giving their fullest support to the work and also reactivating the committee to collect the membership fee for the running costs and maintenance of the power plant.
