The project achieved its stated objectives with a high satisfactory performance even though it exceeded its estimated time of completion. The group was able to secure the alteration of protection status of some 7500 acres of an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, a co-management agreement and authority to collect entrance fees. Stakeholders? involvement and public participation was limited throughout the implementation of the project. Partnership with local organizations and government agencies tasked with managing Belize?s resources aided in the successful achievement of some of the objectives.

Replication approach was deemed to have little attention given to it and therefore, this aspect was marginally satisfactory. Project proponents were unable to link their projects? activities with future actions and using the logical framework analysis approach perhaps could have helped in this regard.
Financial planning and leveraging co-financing was a challenge,however, the project contributed positively to the work of the GEF Small Grants Programme in Belize, the national development agenda and conservation and management of Belize?s biodiversity.
