Sustainable Development for Sustainable Livelihood of the Orang Laut of Carey Island in Selangor
Development of a full project proposal through conducting meetings with the indigenous Orang Laut communities to better define the scope, and objectives of the project, understand their expectations and decide on the type of sustainable livelihood trainings most appropriate to meet their needs. The full project being planned will also have a tree replanting programme for the 'Batu Nireh', a type of mangrove tree which is currently under threat from over-exploitation by the Orang Laut communities for their traditional woodcarvings.
