Proposal for Environment Orientation, communication and awareness programme on GEF small grants programme
Proposal for Environment Orientation, communication and awareness programme on GEF small grants programme
The project will create awareness about GEF/SGPand environmental issues among the common people using the platform of small regional level CBO/NGO and activists. This will enable to create a cadre of workers willing to initiate projects on issues related to GEF. This falls in line with the devolution plan of the government at the district level potentially identifying workers who can make efforts at the district level in this new system of power decentralization. GEF has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the RSP's Network and is planing to make the RSP's grassroots community set up as the base for the programme orientation and awareness in the form of trickle down effect.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
A complete Kit is to be designed for the small NGO's/ CBO's activists in Urdu and English, as a comprehensive view of the GEF programme not only in terms of its programme content and activities but also including elaborate material on proposal writing and other application processes pertinent to GEF's criteria. This will inevitably include presentation material of the GEF programme in terms of slides and perhaps leaflets and so on. This Kit will also include another module on Report writing of various types and information on various other agencies/individuals and literature on the subject. This will provide a pipeline base to these small NGO's and CBO's to apply, while providing GEF a channel for an inflow of proposals. A module on Community Participation will be developed, which should envisage a vision for the development practitioners in the light of participatory development. The idea is that this material even if delivered by a non-technical trainer, especially in the field of environment, should be able to clearly put the message across.
